It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Scott Dunnett on September 12, 2025. At just 37 years old, Scott’s life was tragically cut short, leaving behind his beloved wife and their three beautiful children, Kenzie, Avery, and Zak. His passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the community that cherished him.
Scott was a man remembered for his kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for his family. A devoted husband and father, he built his life around those closest to him, always striving to provide love, support, and encouragement. His children were the light of his world, and he took immense pride in watching them grow, guiding them through life with patience and care. Scott’s legacy as a family man is one of love, selflessness, and devotion that will remain with his wife and children forever.
In addition to being a loving husband and father, Scott was deeply involved in his community, particularly through Tewksbury Youth Skating Association (TYSA). He gave countless hours as a coach, mentor, and supporter, touching the lives of countless young athletes. Most recently, Scott coached his daughter and her Bantam team, bringing enthusiasm, patience, and encouragement to every practice and game. His leadership and guidance extended beyond the rink—he was a role model who instilled values of teamwork, respect, and perseverance in every player he coached.
On social media, TYSA shared a heartfelt tribute, writing: “It is with sad hearts that we share the passing of Scott Dunnett, beloved father, husband, friend, and coach. Scott and his family have supported TYSA for many years, including most recently Scott coaching his daughter and her Bantam team.” The message reflects the deep sense of loss felt by the hockey community and the appreciation for Scott’s lasting impact.
To honor Scott’s memory, TYSA has invited its community to gather in solidarity on Sunday, September 14th, at 8:45 p.m. A special tribute will take place, including a police escort in Scott’s honor passing through the intersection of Wildwood Street and Woburn Street in Wilmington. TYSA athletes are encouraged to wear their jerseys as a symbol of unity and respect. Parking will be available at the nearby elementary school.
This gathering provides an opportunity for the community to come together in remembrance, to celebrate Scott’s contributions, and to show support for the Dunnett family during this time of unimaginable grief.
